october 6 2003 - portland or
hey, check it out. it's raining in portland. no way.

everybody at the show was super nice, but they were all from somewhere else.

we seriously considered making a stop by the aamco transmission joint in redding, california where we got our transmission "fixed" while on tour in 2000, but we were afraid that we'd get recognized by the people at the rental car place next door where we rented a 15 person passenger van to finish the dates on that tour. whoever owns that van today, we're sorry if the engine was never right again.

we spent the night in a some ritzy lake cabin somewhere on the washington-oregon border. mike drank two $100 bottles of wine. lyle stole a stack of commemerative dvd's. bill got to spend all night on the terminator 2 videogame. i got to sleep in a really sketchy waterbed.

Indie, my ass. I mean, fine wine and a scenic view? Jesus.

I'm the fan of Matt's who put them up in the lakehouse. I'm from SoCal and grew up poor with all the indie bands. It's a house I bought with my trust fund baby ex-boyfriend.

Anyone who posts the Mats "Valentine" every fucking Vanlentine's day deserves one night of fun fun fun till their daddy takes the t-bird away.

Had a great time with both bands, and they were EXTREMELY appreciative, cleaned up and everything. Indie??? Hell yeah!!! I was just trying to give them a break. And how was your day??

that was very nice of you. good friends are hard to find. boys who clean up after themselves are even more rare...

Matt left me the latest Scaries CD. Wow. Good stuff. Nice to just talk to the guys from both bands (Scaries and A Small Victory).

They totally acted like indie players - like boys in Disneyland, with beds to sleep in, games to play, two!! bathrooms - and never trashed a thing.

As for the $100 bottles of wine, my ex has a huge wine cabinet right in the kitchen. Mike asked about the Merlot, I offered to share, and we split 2 bottles. Amongst like 200 bottles. Lyle's DVDs... let's just he and the other guys found them, and I said "take them". If I can't pay for your transmission (which they, by the way, never mentioned), I might as well give any indie band involving Matt Tomich a break.
